Questions
Which registered agent doesn’t raise its price after the first year?
Mainstay Filing is $149 a year and stays $149. Of the 19 other providers with a published price, 14 show the same price after year one and 4 do not: ZenBusiness, Harbor Compliance, FreeRegisteredAgent.com and Launch Registered Agent.
Is $149 a teaser rate?
No. Mainstay Filing lists $149 a year for a registered agent alone and the same price at renewal. It renews at $199 a year, with no rate that jumps at renewal and no new line items.
Does the price go up if I add an LLC?
Formation is a different plan. $199 a year covers formation prepared and filed, the registered agent all year, the annual report prepared and filed, and the EIN application; the price is the same for every entity type and state. A registered agent alone, for a company that is already formed, is $149 a year. That plan does not include the annual report.
What does cancelling cost?
Tell Mainstay Filing before renewal and it will not renew. A filing already submitted that year cannot be refunded.
If my agent raises the price, what does it cost to switch?
Only the state’s change-of-agent filing fee, which runs from nothing to $100 depending on the state. It is listed in the state table.
